This post features a wonderful portrait of Jim painted by his friend, Robert Reid. The painting is from the collection of Kelly and Pam Leeman. I’m not sure of the size of the work (I did not measure it when I took the photograph) but I’m estimating that it is at least 4′ in height.
Jim and Robert were long time friends. For at least twenty years they shared a studio at 233 Lafayette Street in New York City. Robert was an accomplished artist that is well respected and actively collected. A selection of his work can be found at the Avery Gallery’s website.
After Jim left New York City and moved to Kewanna in 1976, for a period of time Jim would return to NYC to watch over Robert’s apartment while he traveled in France during summers. And, from time to time Robert would come to Indiana and visit Jim in Kewanna. Below are a few snapshots of Robert when visiting Kewanna.
