Art is Very Much Alive in Kewanna, People and Places, October 26 and 27, 2013

Update (10-29-13):  You can read posts about this event at Ron Kern’s photography blog and at Satch’s website.

Diane Tesler is celebrating fifteen years in her art space and studio by hosting People and Places, an art exhibition featuring 31 artists, live acoustic music, and homemade sweets and snacks.  Diane’s studio is located at 101 East Main Street, Kewanna Indiana.

This is a wonderful event that draws art lovers from all over north central Indiana.  It is held over the last weekend in October, the 26th and 27th, from noon to 5 p.m. each day.  The vibe is totally casual and is immersed in community and the love of art.

This year Diane has been painting portraits of many of the locals around Kewanna and her plein air work is always fantastic.  Artist Wade Bussert, who organizes and hangs the exhibition, has been busy this year drawing and making watercolor paintings of the local area.

For the first time at this exhibition Satch will be showing new work, including a piece that is an homage to former Kewanna resident, the artist James Spencer Russell.Works in Progress 2013

I had such a wonderful time at the show again this year and feel honored to be a part of this community. It was great to meet the Kerns and we bought one of Satch’s pieces to add to our art collection. Build your Nest will be perfect in our home! They also came to our bonfire Saturday night after the show which is always interesting and a great addition to the annual event. I look forward to it every year and now have the Russell show in the spring to look forward to!
